Goddess Spindle

Kravelli Goddess Spindles are our interpretation of the distinctive Goddess-style support spindle — a curving, sculptural form related to the traditional phang family of supported spindles.

Unlike our classic Support Spindles, which are designed as dependable everyday workhorses, Goddess Spindles have a very different character. Their pronounced curves, narrow waist and fuller lower body give them an instantly recognizable silhouette and make the spindle itself part of the visual pleasure of spinning.

The Goddess style belongs to the broader family of phang supported spindles, traditional forms of which have long been used in regions including Tibet and Ladakh for handspinning wool and fine fibers. In the modern handspinning community, the name “Goddess spindle” became associated with beautifully shaped phang-style spindles whose curved profile suggests a feminine or goddess-like figure.

Each Kravelli Goddess Spindle is handmade in Georgia by skilled makers using natural hardwoods, with individual grain, color and proportions giving every piece its own character.

For spinners who enjoy the rhythm of supported spinning but want a tool with a more sculptural and expressive form, the Goddess collection offers a very different experience from our classic support spindle designs.
