About Kravelli

Handmade Spinning Tools from Georgia

Kravelli is a small Georgian fiber-arts brand creating handmade wooden spinning tools for handspinners around the world. From support spindles and spinning bowls to spindle stands and plying tools, our work brings together thoughtful design, skilled woodworking, natural materials, and our home in the Republic of Georgia in Europe.

Our Story

Kravelli was founded in 2021 by Dea Tsutskiridze, a Georgian journalist and writer with a deep interest in handspinning, traditional craft, and the stories carried by handmade objects. What began with the idea of creating distinctive spinning tools in Georgia gradually grew into a collaboration with skilled local artisans and a community of spinners far beyond Georgia.

Dea works closely with the people who make Kravelli's tools, developing ideas, shapes, wood combinations, and new ways to make handspinning both practical and beautiful.

Made by Hand in Georgia

Our spinning tools are made in the Republic of Georgia from carefully selected woods. Depending on the piece, Kravelli works with woods such as walnut, pear, beech, cherry, apple, chestnut, and other varieties chosen for their individual grain, weight, feel, and character. Current Kravelli collections show this wide range of hardwood combinations across support spindles, bowls, stands, and other tools.

Wood is never completely uniform, and we do not want it to be. Grain, tone, small variations, and the maker's hand give every Kravelli piece its own personality. Our goal is not simply to make an attractive object, but to create a spinning tool designed with attention to balance, comfortable handling, smooth performance, and lasting usefulness. Kravelli customers repeatedly describe the current spindles as smooth-spinning, long-spinning, and enjoyable to use.

Tools for the Whole Spinning Process

Kravelli began with spindles, but our work has grown with the needs and ideas of the spinning community. Today the collection includes handmade support spindles and support bowls, mini spindles, Goddess-style support spindles, drop spindles, spindle stands, and tools for working with handspun yarn.

One example is Lazy Anna, Kravelli's wooden plying tool developed specifically for people working with support spindles. It holds multiple support spindles so a spinner can manage two- or three-ply yarn more easily—an example of how we combine traditional handspinning with practical new ideas for contemporary spinners.

We Provide Character

Our motto is “We Provide Character.”

For us, character means more than decoration. It is the character of the wood, the hands that shaped it, the place where it was made, and ultimately the spinner who puts it to work. We believe a good spinning tool should be functional enough to become part of your everyday craft and distinctive enough to feel like your own.

Whether you are discovering supported spinning for the first time or have been spinning for years, we hope a Kravelli tool gives you something simple but important: a beautiful reason to keep spinning.

Made by hand in Georgia. Made for spinners everywhere.
